Address Change Portal Reports & Reviews (3)

I thought I was using the USPS website to forward my mail to my new address. I thought I was only going to pay $1 to the USPS for this service but I was charged almost $50. I called their 800 number and all they asked for was my first and last name and said I’d get a refund in a few days. The phone call lasted maybe 20 seconds. There’s no way you could accurately identify someone with such little information. It just seemed was too strange.

The address that shows up on my credit card statement was to a condo in Florida. I have since reported this to my credit card companies fraud department.

I googled "USPS address change" and this website was the first to come up. They used the USPS logo which made me think it was right. I filled out all of my information, including my payment information because I knew that the post office would charge a $1 fee for this service, but it didn't actually disclose the fee amount on the form anywhere. I submitted my form and then checked my bank account and they had debited me $50 - that's when I knew I messed up. I called my bank and filed a dispute. The scam website also claims to have a 30 day refund policy, but I have reached out twice and received no response. So far, it does not seem that they have actually changed my address on any of my accounts, so I went ahead and did it myself.

In hindsight, I should have known better and just gone straight to the USPS website, but 1) I didn't know address change scams even existed and 2) it was the first in the search result and the website looked legit. Moving is already stressful enough - shame on these companies for making it even harder.

I searched for "USPS change of address" without realizing the first option that popped up was their website. There are no fees notes on their site for their services, I put in my credit card info expecting the $1 fee the USPS website normally charges, submitted, checked my bank account bc afterwards it stated you can track your forwarded mail which I thought was odd. There was a $49.50 fee pending. I immediately got back on their site, no phone number or address listed just a "request refund" hyperlink to submit a request. Now worried I should cancel my card and request a new one.
