I was using the Safari Internet Browser when I received a pop-up that I could not delete or remove from my browser. The pop-up claimed that my cell phone was infected with a virus and that I needed to call (800) 876-6855 or (888) 262-9415 for assistance immediately. I called the number and an "agent" with a strong middle eastern/Indian accent answered the phone and told me that my cell phone had a virus and that he could remotely install an app called UPTO PRIME on my phone and remove all viruses for $40. He then asked for my credit card number. The agent nor any supervisor would provide me with any information about their company but I looked up the name of the app and found that many people are getting scammed out of their money by this "company". I called the business back and requested information regarding their company/corporation and I will include all of the information that I was given. My phone was never infected with a virus and the company deliberately and fraudulently told me this in an attempt to manipulate me into providing my credit card info. I am concerned this is an identity theft scam. Their pop-up is difficult to remove from an Apple iPhone browser; they offer to remotely scan and fix the problem (which isn't possible because Apple does not allow them to do so) for $40. They become hostile when asked for business information.

I was using my phone and a pop up black piped up telling me I was at risk of a virus and that If I did not call the number provided my phone would be compromised. I was unable to use my phone so I called it. I was told in order to restore my phone I would need to download the app acu protect software which would cost 34.95 I paid they walked me thru the steps and u was able to use my phone again. After doing my research I found out that this was a scam to take my money and access my card info. So now I'm here. I would like a refund and somehow for this scam company to never contact me again. This took place on 7/11/16
