The caller told me that he was calling from ACME Securities, a branch that is contracted by CIBC to watch for large amounts of money to be taken out of their clients' accounts. They said a red flag went up on my account 15 minutes ago and they need to confirm it's me by confirming my bank account number which is and my SIN number. They needed me to come down to the police station right now or they can do this over the phone, but they need to act right now! They said they have the suspect that is using my information located in a gas station in Calgary and they can call the RCMP to arrest him if I act now. They would send me a new card with a new SIN number, and to contact CIBC to change my banking Information. I can pay the admin fees of $175.00 for the new SIN card via etransfer to [email protected] I called my local police station and luckily they confirmed that this was a scam.

The person on the phone told me that ACME Securities is a branch under CIBC that watch for unusually large amounts of money to be taken out of their clients' accounts. He told me that there was a warrant for my arrest and that I needed to come down to the police station immediately to straighten this out, or they can verify my information over the phone. They have the suspect that is using my information located in a gas station in Calgary and if they act now the RCMP can arrest them, they just needed to verify my Social Insurance Number and account number with CIBC. The man told me that they would issue a new SIN Card to me but I have to act NOW! I can pay the administration fees by e-transfer. The email that they provided was [email protected] to collect my new SIN Card. Luckily I called my local RCMP and the officer confirmed that this is a scam.
