I got a somewhat panicked phone call from a friend who is not very computer savvy. While she was web surfing, she got redirected to a website .... www[dot]accompetitive[dot]com .... and saw several fake virus alerts pop up on her Windows 10 computer screen. The pop-ups told her to call a toll free number : (888) 614-9730. When she called this number, she was connected to an apparent call center in India. They told her they could help her, and asked for her credit card information, at which point she hung up. When I looked at the pop-ups that had appeared on her screen, I noticed some "bad English" in the text, which made me suspicious that this website was not based in the US. Turns out this is a fake Microsoft support webpage - DO NOT call these people, as they are definitely running a "scare-ware" scam!
