I contacted the person from a craigslist as to purchase a pug from them. All was going well and I genuinely thought she was the owner. Once it came to me denying the pet the person because a bit hostile and said the pet was dropped off at the transport company and just needed my information. At this point I was caught in the rush I didn’t think and gave basic information, as well as I sent a money order to them. The company would call and ask to confirm my address and asked that I send the money within the hour (the was 8:45pm) so that they could ship the pet. I was late to sending it, but they said nothing. I was told I would be given an invoice, but didn’t receive it till after I emailed them. In the invoice it included the shipping and flight details, but they included that they had already registered the pet to me. At 10pm I realized it was a scam and believed I couldn’t retrieve the money. Luckily all money order accept business close at 9pm so they weren’t able to cash the money order and I was able to cancel it. They then contacted me in the morning asking me to try to resend it or they would contact pet control and see if it was pet abandonment or pet abuse.
