The company sent a notification that pretended to be from Google, indicating that my personal computer id had been compromised, and sending the number I needed to contact in order to be able to use the internet. The representatives of this company then asked me to allow them onto my computer (which I made the very big mistake of doing), gave me an extensive demonstration of the number of times my data had been breached, then proceeded to sell me a package that would supposedly clean up my system. They proceeded to collect a checking account number, and one of their "technicians" then installed the clean-up software. The same company called again about two months later, explaining that updates needed to be made, for which I was charged an additional fee. They called again a few weeks after that, this time to inform me that an earlier company had folded and they would therefore be giving me a rebate--which they needed access to my bank account in order to do. Once they had control over my computer, they blacked out the screen and attempted (I found out later) to wire themselves the entire amount in my savings account. A representative from the Bank of America prevented the wire from going through, and then called me to inform me of their attempt (suggesting that I close that account). The scammers continue to call me regularly--which I find baffling, since I have told them in no uncertain terms that I know what their scheme is.

To begin with, I responded to a pop-up warning of malware, etc. I contacted Company (ABS World) by phone. I allowed tech. to install security on my computer. I do not recall how I paid or amount at that time. Eventually, I was getting calls from "everywhere" with different phone numbers to the point of harassment. We have an unlisted landline, & applied to "Do not call registry". I tried to keep track of dates, times & ph numbers to report. Recently, a different company (Sunrise Enterprise) tricked me into believing they were a part of ABS World that I did business with, & downloaded an "Iron-clad" security system "for life" @ $649.00 (discounted), using my bank checking account; they already had all the numbers, which made them seem more "legitimate". I was called by the ABS World after the fact, to learn that I was scammed by Sunrise. So, I contacted my bank to stop payment on the check. Next day, ABS tech. was surprised that I would think that Sunrise was ABS. I told him that companies buy other companies all the time, and it was difficult for me to know who I can trust. Of course, I can trust ABS! So, he checked my PC, wants to install ABS Security at differing prices, the last of which is Lifetime & can be placed on any new computer. The other 2 options did not allow that. Price about $600.00. They want payment through gift cards. I would have to leave my house to go to different stores to do this. I have not driven since Sept. 30, 2017, due to surgeries, & that would be a problem with my spouse as well. Since that couldn't be done, decided to go through Amazon. I was not to tell any of these places "why" I was purchasing these gift cards to "remove NYS taxes", thereby "saving me" money. Another RED FLAG. Amazon put a hold on it. Tech. was upset, as if it were "urgent" that I get SECURITY on my PC. I said I would change all my passwords; he said it would not matter, that "anyone" would be able to get into my PC & obtain all the info. I told him I had separate security protecting my credit, bank Soc. Sec. with $1million security should I need it, and if it was THAT URGENT, then there is a PROBLEM. He agreed to wait the 24-48 hours, & installed a "temporary" security for those days until they could get paid. I now have to contact Amazon to tell them I have been scammed. Again.

We had our computer taken over by a pop up scam last year . We called the number on the box because it said contact microsoft and we did. the company we called ended up being a scam and scammed us out of 350.00. They added programs on our computer that could steal our personal information. we called microsoft to report it and they fixed and reversed whatever abs world did. we hadnt heard from them in awhile until recently. they have been calling every day several times a day and every few minutes if you hang up. they harass us nonstop and it has to stop so they dont scam more people out of money.
