Received a phone call and message to contact a Mitigation Form. Gave reference number. Called toll free number and they identified themselves, gave name, and phone number. Started they were a mitigation service for private client that is claiming they are collecting on bad check written back in 1997 at Winn Dixie in a state I was stationed at in the military. Said they had copy of the check that had my SSN printed on it (which they read off) and gave an supposed home address (one which I never lived at) and through Trustmark bank (Never had an account there and verified with Trustmark). Said that I could settle if I paid the fee, to which I state they could serve me civilly and we would go through litigation. They would not give me name of supposed "Private Client" that was attempting to collect on the debt. Said that since they contacted me, the client wants it resolved that day or would go to court.
