They called me and sister in law claiming to be an agent from tbe NIS looking for my husband. Neither of us answered but were left voicemails.

This is a common phishing scheme. Real government agencies — including NIS — do NOT contact family members, leave random voicemails, or demand callbacks from unknown numbers. They also never use scare tactics or involve relatives to reach someone.

Since neither of you answered, that’s good it helps prevent them from obtaining more information.

Do NOT call the number back and do NOT provide any details if they contact you again. Block the number to avoid additional harassment.
