Total money lost $48,000
Type of a scam CryptoCurrency
On August 1, 2023 David Lee called me at 9:15 a.m. to advise me the initial $21,000 in bitcoin was recovered and refunded to my savings account. He told me in order to secure my savings account I was to withdraw the balance of $18,000 and confirm the same "secure wallet" when that was complete he would create a new secure Bank of America savings account. He directed me to the Bank of America located in San Marino, CA and withdraw $18,000. He told me that on August 2, 2023 my Bank of America savings account would be restored to $48,000.
David Lee never called me back the number he gave me was no longer in service. I called Bank of America to ask if my savings was restored, they told me it was a scam and no one from Bank of America contacted me about any suspicious or fraudulent activity regarding my saving account. They also informed me since I did the physical withdrawls from the bank, I had no recourse to get my $48,000 back. The real fraud department at Bank of America took my information and filed a claim (claim # TRMS202308006438.
They told me to file a police report and I did at the Alhambra Police Department, it is filed under Fraud by bitcoin. I contacted the FBI and was told to file my report to: The Federal Trade Commission at reportfraud.ftc.gov The FTC emailed me with a report number *********.
