I was mailed a letter by "Labor Poster Compliance" asking for me to pay $90.25 for Federal and state labor law posters. I was also mailed a letter by "MD Certificate Service" (at the same address, but instead of suite 131, the return address is #116), asking for $87.25 for a certificate of Good standing.

I just formed an LLC.

I'm pretty sure this is fake.

I was under the impression the state would supply me with these posters in necessary and that filing for an LLC granted me good standing as a business.

The mailing address of the letter from Labor Poster Compliance is 5261 highland rd baton rouge la 70808. When you google map it, it takes you to a building at LSU. The letter stated that I needed to purchase labor compliant posters or else there would be a fine. The scammer utilized misleading layout and information making it appear it came from the federal government. In fine print on the back is where they stated it was an optional service and that this wasn't a bill.

I received a letter sent to my personal residence and addressed to an LLC that included my last name. Scammer wanted me to pay $86.25 for a “State & Federal All-In-One Labor Law Poster pursuant to Federal Law 29 USC Sec. 666 (i) & 29 Sec. 2005. According to the scammer, failure to display this poster can result in fines of “nearly” $40,000. I called the scammer at 844-258-8386 to tell them they sent a notice to the wrong address (never gave my address or information). The scammer said the company was in good standing. I asked what address they sent the notice to. I heard a cell phone ringing in the background then I was abruptly disconnected. I called back and the phone rang over ten times with no answer or voicemail. I reported this scam to the FTC immediately. I also googled their address (302 Washington St. Suite 940, San Diego, CA 92103) and it is at/or next to a UPS store. It is possible that they have a P.O. Box #940 and not a suite #940 (only guessing).

I thought this was legitimate and I mailed them a check. The check cleared and I never received the poster, which I actually don’t even need. Their only contact is a phone number that just rings and no one answers.

Two letters have been received in different formats, both requesting a document fee to be paid for $86.25 in order to receive a Labor Law Poster. These letters were received within days of obtaining Articles of Organization from the NCSOC, and the letter includes my business name, address and associated SOSID number. The information in the letter repeats many times the cost of fines that a business could be required to pay if they do not comply with displaying state and federal labor law posters.
