On 3/18/25 I received a phone call from 800-955-7070 which went to voice mail.

The voice mail message stated it was Pamela from Capital 1 calling about dispute case

No. 250218131503072 and to return the call to 800-955-1455.

I did NOT call back. Instead I took out my Capital One card and called the number on the back of the card.

I had 2 disputes pending, none of which had that case number. The phone number the call came from was NOT

a Capital One number. The number I was supposed to call back was also NOT a Capital One number.

Caller says her name is C9 and left voicemail claiming to be from Capital One. She had my full name and phone number that I used in a recent Capital One Online Application. They are calling to verify a recent application. Gives a different phone number to call back on (855-522-7663) and an application ID.

Caller says her name is Tammy and left voicemail claiming to be from Capital One's Fraud Protection team. Says they are calling to verify a recent application. Gives a different phone number to call back on (855-522-7663) and an application ID. I looked up Capital One's Fraud number on their website and called. They verified that there is no application in my name. The only thing on my credit report (with one credit bureau) is a soft inquiry 10 days after the call was placed. I didn't get the initial call because I was overseas and my calls weren't coming through. I only saw the voicemail when I checked my Google Voice account and saw the message.

This letter came from supposedly capital one regarding an unidentifiable card number. Asked for personal data to verify. Hung up. Called capital one and was confirmed from them this was a scam.
