Type of a scam Identity Theft
Did so and number was answered by person identifying themselves as Microsoft techsupport. Asked for remote control of my laptop and went through motions of searching my files for virus. Told me to turn off computer and another person would call.
Scam was that antivirus installed on my laptop was incompatible and a mistake was made by tech, and they were going to refund what i paid for antivirus. They had me go into my online banking to authorize transfer.
At that point I got suspicious and cut off Wi-Fi connection.
I then went to my bank and closed my accounts and reopened new accounts.
I don't know what other info they gleaned off my computer.
Was told by Social Security contact to monitor my credit reporting.
My 6 month old laptop computer is now worthless.
