Type of a scam Retail Business
On Tuesday, October 31st, I fell victim to Deceptive fraud and false advertising under consumer protection laws. Total $820 - Police Report # 2023 00137673
October 30th – After discovering on Groupon that my mother’s favorite R&B artist Al Green was on tour and headed to Detroit Fox Theater on Friday, November 24, 2023, at 8 pm. I considered surprising her with a mother-and-daughter concert and an overnight trip to Detroit. My mother has been in love with Al Green since the early 70’s and he through her rose. Now at age 75 and less mobile, I wanted to give her that moment back!
I am not in the best financial position to do so, but I knew I would figure away to do other things, I was going to sacrifice for her. Besides that, Al Green is much older so who knows if it will happen again.
I researched both Groupon.com and Ticketmaster.com to find the best rates and seats.
Note: My mother is legally registered as disabled and depends on wheelchair-accessible accommodations for outings. Because of this, I needed to purchase a “Companion Seat” ticket within the wheelchair-accessible section. This was difficult to do online without assistance, so I researched Ticketmaster Customer Service's phone number and the number that appeared as 1-877-434-4671
I was greeted by a foreign male voice that identified himself as
Ticketmaster representative Mike.
CONVERSATION POINTS:
I shared the story of wanting to take my mother to this possible Last-In-A-Lifetime concert. I shared my need for great seats, companion & and accessible seating, and the best rates to give her the same memorable experience she had back in the early 70s when she attended in her younger years!
I was given options of seating and pricing which appear to be beyond my budget.
Which would total close to $600
Mike mentioned he would put the tickets on hold for an hour.
I called back and decided I was not going to take her again because the fee was outside of my budget with getting both tickets and a rental car and hotel.
I'm assuming here my compassionate story he initiated an offer to use his employee ID to offer a VIP special that would allow me to take my mother and also give her the experience of a lifetime.
This VIP package included front-row seats lounge chairs hot dogs free parking total of $450.
Main floor seating section f3 row eight seats 301 and 302
I mentioned to Mike the offer was very tempting I'll call him back the next day I had to look at my budget and think about it
Mike gave me his number which is 415-475-8549.
He told me to call him directly and he would process this order for me through his Employee ID discount it can only be done through his ID discount off the Ticketmaster platform.
MIKE’s TICKETMASTER SCHEME
Mike insisted that these tickets had to be purchased through a gift card a Ticketmaster gift card an Apple gift card or a GameStop gift card.
At CVS or Target ...and another location I can't remember.
I said I would think about it...but leaning towards yes.
However if so I couldn't do so until 11:30 a.m.
NEXT DAY OCTOBER 31st:
Instead, Mike Called me back from number (325 249-0489 at 9:17 am and again at 9:18 am that morning of October 31st
* I missed both calls
Mike left me a voicemail at 9:20 a.m. from the number 325-249-0489.
I Have this VOICEMAIL:
He identifies himself as Mike from Ticketmaster. He reminded me of my purchase and the reason for my purchase and also mentioned that he had a meeting from 8 am so could purchase the tickets sooner.
He then TEXTED me at 9:36 am... following up about purchasing the VIP package for my mother
I called him back at the original number (415) 475-8549 at 9:48 am
I said yes I was going to purchase a gift card for tickets ...but I could not purchase until 11:30 am or 12:00 p.m.
Mike was kind but began to become pushy and assertive with his sales. he mentioned he would keep the tickets on hold until 11:30 am
I ARRIVED AT CVS
At approximately 11:26 am I arrived at CVS located at 590 East Market Street Akron Ohio 44305 number 330-535-2700.
This is my first time making a gift card purchase for a wired transfer, so I called Mike back at 415-475-8549. So that he can help navigate me through the purchase process
From this point at CVS, there were a series of contacts from 11:26 a.m. to 11:54 a.m.

**See text images on my phone.
11:41 a.m. I called him to confirm text receive
1151 a.m. I called him back to confirm the text received
1152 a.m. I called him back to confirm the text received
1154 a.m. I called him back to confirm the text received and yes or text images were received
At this point, Mike informed me that it would take an hour or two for the payment process to go through and tickets would be forwarded to my email or Ticketmaster account.
SCAMMED:
Once we disconnected, I realized I may have been scammed because I never set up a Ticketmaster account nor did Mike have my email address. Although through the process of speaking to Mike, he confirmed this was an honest true transaction he was honestly paid Ticketmaster representative and I was not being scammed this was the process of using his employee ID to get me the discount VIP packages for my mother so I believed because I did get the number from the Ticketmaster website.

The Verbal Abusive Scamming Process
James Williams represented himself as Ticketmaster customer service I asked to speak to Mike he insisted Mike was not available and that he would be helping me with my issue.
I mentioned I was following up on the status of my tickets
He replied asking if had I paid for the tickets and when and where.
This put me in panic mode. I stated I had already made the purchase I was on hold for the status of the tickets.
James mentioned there were no tickets because no money was received he checked his system and saw the money was stuck however he was going to forward me back the money so that I could repurchase the tickets.
In an effort for him to do so, they need to forward it by a gift card I need to make another purchase for another gift card or they would have to send it to my phone.
Which would be the easiest way he insisted I had to download an app. In my Play Store, the app is called any desk plug-in 81.
To my ignorance.
This app allowed him to mirror my phone and have access to all of my personal information.
James proceeded to navigate me through the app and settings in the back of my phone.
This allowed him to my banking information cash app as well as PayPal.
During this time he's insisting that nothing illegal is being done. don't touch my phone doing the process as he transferred the money.
I noticed his cursor landing in my cash app on linking my debit card and another bank card.
He instructed me to push buttons to do a test which was the cash out button for $270 in the cash app.
I panicked and said I didn't think this was correct he said he was not touching anything as he tried to forward me the money which they'll be paying me $700 and $20...this way.
In the process, I received a notification for my US bank $270 was withdrawn from my bank.
As well as a cash app notification withdrawal of $270.
Quickly he landed the cursor in my PayPal as I was trying to stop the process and withdrawals $100
I was able to lock my bank quickly in the process and panic
He proceeds to yell at me while I see his cursor on my emails swiping out the confirmation from all the transactions
In the process he's in my Amazon account trying to load a gift card however Amazon has a blocker and he was unsuccessful.
By now I'm panicking crying yelling stop it you're robbing me give me my money you're stealing from me and all types of antics.
His dangles are carried over my head saying I would not get my money I was not getting my tickets I'm crying you robbed me you're stealing from me you're taking from my mother you lied to me all types of antics
I surrendered and said I was calling the police and I hung up the phone.
October 31st at 5:24 p.m.
To reach Mike I texted every number that was contacted to me through this scam and stated:
I cannot believe you allowed me to violate rob, and steal that moment and my money from my mother that is the most damaging thing I trusted you lied to me.
I immediately blocked my bank accounts.
Contacted cash app to report the scam. change passwords on all accounts
I contacted my bank to file a report.
Unfortunately, the bank came to a couple of conclusions they could not resolve my claim.
MIKE TEXTED ME BACK!
At approximately 8:40 p.m. Mike responded to my text from the number 415-475-8549
