I purchased a five month old German Shepard for a friend last October. The dog was advertised as healthy. We were told he was seen by a vet and up to date on his shots. When I asked for the name of the vet and shot records, the breeder changed her story and said that she gave the dog its shots. She is not a vet. The dog was never seen by one. The dog did not have his rabies shot either which she was responsible for since the dog was 5 months old. We agreed on 900 and then after I comitted to the purchase, she said she made a mistake and the dog is now $1100 as she claimed it was house trained and crate trained. It was not. We didn't notice it at the time of the purchase but its noticeable in the photos that were taken at the breeders home that the left side of the dogs face is deformed. As the dog grew, his deformity became extremely obvious. He was seen by a vet and the vet feels this is due to trauma when he was a small pup. I reached out to the breeder because she said the dog was from Ohio. She then changed her story and said the dog was born in her family room, hasn't had any accidents that would cause the side of his head to be bashed in and its a birth defect. She was very defensive. I asked for my money back since she feels its a birth defect and I didn't purchase a healthy dog as promised. She refused and got extremely defensive saying its none of my business since I purchased it as a gift and I only asked for a German Shepard and that's what I got. I didn't realize I needed to specifically ask for a dog without the side of his head bashed in. I have been in contact with the SPCA and the property where she breeds and keeps these dogs is not a registered kennel in Pennsylvania. At this point its not about getting my money back, its about saving someone else from being ripped off by purchasing a dog that either has a birth defect or has been abused while in her care.
