The email appeared as "USPTO," but the actual address was listed as "[email protected]." After a few email exchanges with the scammer, I was told the submitted application was approved. The next day, I was provided a link to submit a payment for a "Letter of Confirmation." On 4/24/25, I mistakenly proceeded with submitting the payment.
On the following day, 4/25/25, I called USPTO because the $199 fee didn't feel right. The USPTO customer service representative, Ref #200302320, told me this was a scam. The CSR advised me to submit a fraud report and contact my credit card provider.
I contacted my credit card provider and EFTPS to report the fraud as well.
The fraudulent entity was named "Khatri Global Ventures" (KHATRIINC.COM TX 77407 US)
