I was searching the web for recipe and clicked on a web site and my pc locked with a Microsoft message stating to call an 800 # to fix the problem. I called and the person who answered he could fix it for $299. He had a foreign accent and I could hardly understand him. He asked a lot of questions such as my name, email, my home address, bank and check #. Then he started to fix the problem and said it was a trojan virus. In the process of fixing it he removed my virus protection and replaced it with another one. Microsoft said that it was not their message but an imposter. I sent the $299 to Blinkbyte LLC, P.O. Box 16458, 3900 Crown Rd., Atlanta, Ga. 30321.

While using my computer an alert came on the screen along with a loud alarm. The message indicated that the alarm was coming from an affiliate of Microsoft. When I called the number I was again told that this company was affiliated with Microsoft & that my computer had been compromised. They offered to fix the problem for $329.00 & asked for a check number. They proceeded to supposedly fix the computer & wanted me to forward my check for $329 within ten days to their address in St Petersburg, FL. The man I spoke with had an Indian accent. Before I mailed out the check I decided to check out the company. Turns out they are not affiliated with Microsoft & are a scam. I will be checking with the Florida Secretary of State to determine if they are in fact even registered to do business in Florida.
