Here is the full story:
I purchased $108 worth of merchandise from this company. I paid $54 using a gift card and $54 using my Apple credit card. I returned $58 worth of items within the return window, in brand-new, unused condition with all original tags. Their return policy states that refunds will be issued to the original form of payment if the items are returned on time and in proper condition.
Instead of receiving a proportional refund, the company refunded only $4 to my Apple Card and issued the remaining $54 to a store gift card. I contacted customer service multiple times to ask for a refund back to my Apple Card, especially since my original payment was split nearly evenly. I asked how they determine which part of the refund is assigned to the gift card and which to the credit card, and no clear answer was given.
I explained that I am moving to Ethiopia, a country where this company does not ship, and the gift card is completely useless to me. I am not asking for extra money or disputing the entire order. I simply want the refund applied fairly and in a form I can actually use.
Their policy does not say that gift card refunds will be prioritized or that customers have no choice in the matter. The items I kept could easily have been charged to the gift card, while the returned items should have been refunded to my Apple Card.
This practice is misleading and unfair. I returned the items properly, and the refund should have followed their stated policy. Instead, they are holding $54 of mine in a form I cannot use.
I am requesting that the $54 be refunded to my Apple Card, the same method I used to pay for the returned items.
Thank you.
