The scammer reached out as a "recruiter" with an employment opportunity and asked for my Skype info to send to their HR team. They immediately sent a message over Skype and stated they would be conducting the interview through messages, then proceeded to ask for my "name, sex, and location". Which is incredibly odd but I proceeded with the interview anyway- not telling them my gender or exact location. Most questions seemed like legit interview questions, however, one of the questions asked who I banked with and what phone provider I use.

When I asked why that was necessary to know as that didn't pertain to myself or the company, they stopped responding.

I immediately blocked them on Skype and looked them up on BBB.

Surprise, they don't exist.

I was offered a job today through techstars. But I feel its a scam because the recruiter is asking me to deposit a check of $2900 for software supplies. And that they are sending a mac book pro to work from. I feel if you are sending the equipment to send it already installed on the computer. So I said I wasn't comfortable depositing the check they got mad. I had accepted the job offer. But now I'm unsure because the check seem fraudulent.
