Saw add on Facebook Marketplace for a shipping container and made the inquiry. After shopping around, their prices were 25% cheaper than the others. We agreed on a delivery date and I was to make payment to secure delivery. Invoice was sent to me via my email address. They had my name and delivery location of the container, along with my cell phone number. All communication was done via text or email.

Red flags: Invoice asks for payment via Venmo, Zelle, eChecks, electronic payments - Wire, ACH, Bank Transfer, or PO. All payment methods require you to contact them for additional information to send the funds. I chose Venmo and was provided this information: Debra-Colburn-2 with a PIN of 2406. That was my first flag...the name doesn't match the company name. I then began my research and here is what I found: 1) They have a legit looking company website. The address of the company on the website doesn't match my invoice. 2) The address on the website is a Norwegian Cruise Terminal address in FL, 3) The address on my invoice is to the Ramsey County District Courthouse in St. Paul, MN (15 W Kellogg Blvd, St Paul, MN 55102), 4) Looking at the website, the list "their team" and upon investigating the four people listed: These people do not exist...not on FB, not on LinkedIn, nor is the company listed on LinkedIn (which if this is a valid company at least ONE of their employees would have listed it as a current or previous employer), additionally the pictures used of the alleged employees are stock photos you can get off the web, 5) there are two phone numbers listed: 520-564-8708 (which matched the website and my invoice) and another one on the website as 305-334-7177. I called the 520 number and someone answered "hello" and when I started to question them, they realized they should have answered it "Ascent Containers." I asked for them to validate an invoice for payment and they were able to find it and state back what I had on my invoice. When I questioned their location in FL, and then in MN, they started to get angry with me stating "look, I am legit, I told you want you wanted to know." I told them I was skeptical and hung up. This was enough for me to cancel (via text) the delivery.

advertised on facebook marketplace as broker for Ascent Containers for shipping container. Researched throughj Port of Maimi who said appears to be a legit business. Was sent documents from compay for purchase with letterhead and what looks to be a legit business. now no contact and phone is no longer in service. used zelle for transfer.
