I received a letter via USPS and check for $3750.00 requesting my help for Survey & Research project for Walmart. THE LOGO was blurred as were the logos at the bottom of the letter for Walgreens and CVS. The letter had spelling & grammar errors. Instruction were to purchase (4) $500 Walmart Gift cards then via text send pictures of the receipts for the cards & the front & back of each card. Phone numbers to text this info to: 772-258-1900 and 209-217-2074. It also requested that I email the photos of gift cards and receipts, as well as my deposit slip from my bank proving I had deposited the check. The letter warned to NOT try to cash the check anywhere - only deposit it into my bank account. Oddly, at the end of the letter, it stated they believed "giving back". To the community so I was instructed to purchase a cashiers check at my bank for $20.71 and have it made out to: LITERACY PARTNERS FOUNDATION . After. Purchasing the cashiers check, I was instructed to call my coordinator: Troy Weaver @ 772-258-1900 for further instructions. What a SCAM this is! Walmart does not do this type of survey & research. I used to work for a legitimate company As a secret shopper and product surveyor. Our instructions and payments were handled by the research company. Our work was highly scrutinized so our pay only happened after we were confirmed to having completed all required tasks. We were never asked to cash checks, get paid up front, etc. I hope people are not taken in by this scam and hand over personal and bank information. I'm not sure if the charity really exists, but it does have a website. I laughed when instead of sending the donation ($20.71) directly to the charity - I was told to call for further instructions??. Please look into this matter. Thank you!
