Serenity Hill Ranch Reports & Reviews (11)

He is now running the same website/ same horses but now he is in California. He goes by Howard Booker - Cape cod ranch.

I too fell victim to” Mathew’s bs story. He sure saw me coming! I bought one of the horses’ called (Dunny). I’m from Canada and waited for the horse who was to be delivered when I made my purchase. In the end of all of crap being used, I had sent 14000$ and got nothing for it. I turned away the horse supposedly at the border as they wanted an additional 18 000$ to take the horse across the border. Blah, blah , blah.

The story is a mirror image of what has been said by the other people’s stories. This Steve or Matt has messed with the wrong person. I don’t get mad, I get even. There is an American Consulate in the city where I live. If anyone is interested in taking court action, let me know.

Iam a victim also and would like help also

I’m so fortunate that my daughters trainer found this was a scam. I was suspicious when the “owner” wouldn’t call me back. I was asking for guidance of which horse was best suited for my daughter and he asked me which I wanted. Same letter/email was sent about his injury. Those horses are amazing and beautiful but they are not his nor are they selling for anywhere near that price. Feeling heartbroken for my daughter and foolish.

I reached out through email to the sellers (before I found this website).
I was given a response that I could NOT come to their farm because of COVID restrictions and that they could only ship the horse to me... without me even seeing or riding!
That's when I started really questioning and figured it was too good to be true!

Saw the website and thought it might be a good place to get a nice working horse. Emailed the owner that I would be in TX and wanted to stop by, got no response - then came across these reviews - so I figured I would do a Google reverse image look up. Most of the horses that are posted are not owned by the ranch, but are posted online with different names and by different people.

Same experience as others. Scammer used same photos and descriptions - only the names of the horses have changed. Response emails from this disease used the exact same wording. Red flags - none of the horse photos were being removed from the website indicating that none were selling; prices were too good to be true for the quality of horses pictured and described; takes a very intelligent cowboy to write these types of lengthy descriptions! Alleged seller would not agree to set up a pre-purchase phone conversation. Trust your instincts when the flags come up!

***This is an email I received this morning after inquiring on a Tennessee Walker Horse site FYI
He also attached 6 pics and a video of a horse named Dakota

Hi,

Thanks for your interest in my horse. Dakota is just a wonderfully talented horse with a personality as sweet as he looks!. He’s a 7 years old gelding that you just got to like. He stands at 15 hands. His calm disposition and friendly attitude makes it fun to be with him. He is a real sweetheart. Loves people, and wants to be around them all the time:) He is extremely people oriented, a great family horse. Dakota has been on a regular de-worming, farrier and vaccination program and is current in all categories. He is trained to ride and drive and has a solid dressage foundation. He is a pleasure to ride... Extensive trail riding in group and on his own. From the mountains to the plains. safe and sound. He is as laid back and sweet as they come. He rides English and Western. He also rides bareback if you don't want to take time to saddle him.

He is a blast to ride, very smooth and easy, great gaits, smooth mover, big floaty trot and loose walk, tons of handle, a joy to be on! This is one of those horses that you wait a lifetime to find. He loves to trail ride and it does not matter if you are riding alone or in a group, he will go wherever you point him. I have ridden him along roads, in lakes, mountains, mud, along machinery, etc. He is traffic safe. He will walk along quietly but will gait out easily whenever you ask. He gets along well with other horses. He will be enjoyed by any level rider from the novice to the very experienced rider. He is beginner safe and has been ridden by many beginners and done great.

He is very well broke and he rides the same every time you put your saddle on him. The kind you can skip riding all week and still load up, haul somewhere, and win! He has perfect ground manners, is easy to get along with. Easy keeper. stands, loads, walks, trots, lopes, picks up proper lead, backs, neck reins or you can two hand him. Rides any bit. haul, catch, clip, bath, groom, pick feet, saddle, bridle, great for the vet and the farrier, stands dead still for mount and dismount. Extensive ground work. not spooky. rain slicker, walmart plastic bag safe. Dakota does everything you want. He is good mannered and all around horse todo and has no bad habits.

The reasons why i am giving him out and for such a price is because i would not be needing him again due to some health issues. I had a bike accident a couple of months ago which has led to me having several back surgeries and my doctor advised me to stop horseback riding. Dakota is an amazing horse and I am so sad to let him go. I am looking for a great home where he can be cared for, shown so much love and continue doing what he does best which is riding. ..that's his passion. If you can promise me you will give him that, I will be very happy.

As per my location, I am presently In TEXAS with Dakota . I do accept hauling for interested buyers who are far away from me. I am giving him out for $3,000 and if you would need him delivered over to you, it is going to cost you an extra $1,250 for that. I have a questionnaire below which I would like you to answer. And If you have additional questions about this sweet gelding, please feel free to ask.

Where are you located?
Have you had horses in the past?
How soon do you need the horse?

Can you please tell me a little more about where Dakota
will be kept? Finally, would you like me to have him hauled to you if you can't make it here?

Thanks
Click at the end of it is a video to watch .

They still are online. I corresponded with them. I thought it best to check afterwards.

Serenity Hill Ranch is a scam created by the same person who used to use Round Rock Ranch to scam people.

He changed his name from Steven Mc Farland to Matthew Yodah, or pretends to be the wife Sara Yodah.

They require money paid in advance, will not let you see the horse prior to buying it, and steal pictures of horses from other sale/stallion service ads, or from social media (stolen pictures from people that I KNOW PERSONALLY included below). Also, they “provide their own shipping”, so that you can’t even get the tracking info when “your horse” doesn’t arrive.

Here is a link to a Facebook page that is actively tracking the actions of this scammer. (https://www.facebook.com/RRRisFake)

I am also including pictures from his website that show that this is the exact same scam that was being used on Round Rock Ranch’s website. It’s the same song and dance, verbatim.

- Chico, CA, USA

I was looking on line to buy a horse and this website had about 30 horses for sale with pictures, videos, and customer reviews. The horses look beautiful and the website is very nice, with great customer reviews. This man goes by the name Mathew Yodah. His website is Serenityhilranch.com make sure you only use one “L” to look up the website, but his email address is with two “L”’s

When I called the number, he texted me and said they won’t take calls on the weekends. He asked that we talk by email. I asked by email if I could see pictures of the horse’s papers , and if I could send a vet over next week for a PPE. He said no, because people always just pay and have him ship the horse to them, and that he offers a 30 day money back guarantee. He asked for me to wire him 5,250.00 on Monday , and he would ship the horse to me. He asked where I lived too. He will not show me any pictures of the papers, vet Information, or allow me to go see it in person. He won’t give me the actual location of the horse (address) He only asks to have the money wired.

I don’t want anyone to be scammed by this man.
