I was using the dating app called Hinge. A Chinese woman "Mandy" matched me on 2/25/2024. I personally use WeChat as the chat tool. We switched to the app and chat. She “love bombed” me to build an emotional connection quickly.

She started to bait me on making money from the cryptocurrency exchange on 2/26/2024. She taught me to download Defi wallet, buy $999 bitcoin from my Cash App as an initial practice and sent it to the Defi wallet app. She gave me the link www.bakkt-hotwallet.com to be used inside the defi wallet app and showed me how to trade BTC. WeChat is a chinese app and it can detect "cryptocurrency" stuff. Her account got blocked.

We then switched to the chatting app telegram. She told me to use wire-transfers to send my money to the platform bakkt-hotwallet. She told me how to bypass the validation from the chase bank.

I followed her directions to operate the btc exchange investment. In order to withdraw the money, it asks for prepaid tax. I stopped investing during the withdraw process.

The whole story started from 2/25/2024 and ended on 3/27/2024.

Total 4 Wire-transfers from chase bank: $42000.00 on 2/29/2024, $35000.00 on 3/4/2024, $17000.00 on 3/6/2024, $41000.00 on 3/18/2024.

I later found out it is the typical Cryptocurrency investment scam on Hinge.

The scammer approached me through Instagram (xiazh_onglang) end of May 2022 and quickly after ask for WhatsApp# saying for better communication. We got along well, so we became friend, closed friend, then online boyfriend and girlfriend. He said he lived in LA- somewhere in Covina and the nearest airport was Santa Ana. He is from Shanghai, China, and came to USA in 2019 and has been working at Northwestern Mutual as a Financial Analyst. He introduced me investing in crypto and how we could make some profit. He told me every step from wire transfer money from a bank to Coinbase then lead me to a website he shared with me (he called it trading account) so we could start to do trading. First link he shared was www.zoomcp.vip/ then in August he advised that this link merged with Hopoo so he sent me another link which was www.hopooe.vip, which later I found out was under URL: https://www.belli.vip/ with label as HOPOO. I was so brainwashed at that time so I followed every step he told me to do. Like any other pig butchering romance scams, my story is the same as others where we are being brainwashed and manipulated from our heart to our money, from investing in a small amount of money where the scammer makes sure you make money and withdraw it, to all in. He even persuaded me to borrow money from some banks and family, which I stupidly did. Most of the money were wire transferred through cryptocurrency and one time from bank to bank. One day I came a cross with an article called pig butchering scam while browsing on websites. I read through it and my heart dropped, couldn't believe I was a victim. I went ahead to look for more pig butchering scams and confirmed I was being scammed this whole time. On top of that, I also found out the scammer has more than one Instagram's profiles. His other Insta profiles are under "jerry___0519" and also Facebook account under "Xia Elon." I made a report to CFPB, IC3, SEC, FTC, and have asked my bank to do a wire transfer reversal for the last transaction took place in September. Two weeks have passed, my bank couldn't get a response from the Receiving bank- Evolve Bank and Trust. It really sucks that I lose everything overnight on top of all the debts I have to pay. I was crying my heart out many times thinking how stupid I was. This whole time was chasing after an illusion and of course I feel deeply disappointed not only to myself but also to my closed ones. I realized why some people decided to take their lives when they were in this kind of situation. It was VERY, VERY hard to take, and you feel suffocated.

Right now I could only hope for some light that the bank could succeed in the wire transfer reversal to help me pay off some of my debts.
