A 'pop-up' came onto the screen saying I needed to update a common program. I did so, no problem. Soon, the computer started to have problems, one after the other, worse and worse. I called Microsoft (turned out to be fake) who sent me to them. (Pro-Care). They tried to charge me $300.00, but I offered $200.00, and they took it easily. This should have shown me that it was a scam, but I didn't pick it up at the time. They came onto my computer, and after ~45 minutes they said they were done. I looked them up, and found out through Microsoft that they were criminals. Luckily I am a computer person, (built my first one in 1974!), and cleaned my system up, and got my money back from FBMS.com (they did not know about the thieves) "Pro-Care" have even called me back and bitched about my being able to get my money back! They left a number (which only allows one to give a recorded message) it is: 1-888-243-2441. The number for FBMS is :1-800-960-4509. Please help to save others from having their hard earned money stolen.

When I was on my computer yesterday, a screen popped up and said that my computer needed to be "cleaned out" because I was in "trouble". They said that they were from Pro-Care. My computer was locked when the initial pop-up happened and began to talk to me, so there was nothing that I could do initially. Another pop up came up afterwards, and this time it was a live person. They told me that they were going to help me fix my computer, because it seemed that someone was trying to hack into my system. The man said that Pro-Care was an extension of Microsoft, and that he would take care of all issues for me as long as I cooperated. The man was very nice and professional, which is why I thought it was legitimate, because I know that scams like this exist, but for some reason, this didn't seem like one. The man even helped out with my printer, and printed out their information for me, which was their phone number and email address to contact them. he even gave me their business hours, which made it seem more legitimate.

I was then asked to provide my credit card information, which I gave to them. All of this took about an hour, and during this hour, they said that they were cleaning out my computer to get rid of the person that was trying to hack into my computer. As soon as I gave them my credit card info, I knew that it must be a scam, and even my son checked it out as well online, and found that I had been scammed and that this was a fraudulent company. I cancelled my credit card and took my computer to an IT place to get my computer fixed.

The same situation as the other noted complaints. A pop up appeared, computer screen turned red with buzzing, encouraged to call a number in order to fix - the screen stated the number was linked to "Microsoft support". The number was then called, they requested payment first of $99.99 to fix the "virus", they requested entry of credit card number on the screen, would not take verbal information. The staff support then got "onto" computer and stated they fixed the issue.
