Main issue: Priceline has a 3rd party called Agoda as an in-between hotel booking agency. Priceline seems to create this 3rd party relationship on purpose. They can claim ignorance and not address any problems and pocket any money gained from their confused customers.
Situation:
- I used Priceline to book a 2 queen bedroom suite at Candlewood Suites, from March 12 through March 24. The default is one-bedroom, and I upgraded to two-bedroom, incurring additional costs.
Wednesday, 3/12 - Candlewood Suites (hotel)
- When I arrived at Candlewood Suites, I was given a one-bed suite, Wednesday 3/12. I checked with Candlewood and they said this is what was booked, and they could not change anything on their end with the way their computer program was set up. [ I was traveling due to a death in the family and could not call right away ]
Friday, 3/14 - Candlewood Suites, Agoda and Priceline
- I used the Candlewood Suites (IHG) ChatBot and the Chatbot gave me a number to Agoda to fix an error with my room reservation. Agoda is a 3rd party that received reservations from Priceline and creates the reservations with the Candlewood Suites (hotel).
- I called the number for Agoda. The person at Agoda support said they do not have a relationship with the customer (me) and that Priceline would have to resolve this themselves.
- I called Priceline on Friday, 3/14. The Priceline rep said essentially “ no problem, I can resolve this in 15 minutes and an email will be sent to your email address”.
- Waited. No resolution was provided on this day.
Saturday, 3/15 - Candlewood Suites, Agoda and Priceline
- Hotel rep confirmed there was nothing Candlewood Suites could do because of the way their computer system was designed - they needed Agoda to submit the corrected reservation details.
- Hotel rep (for Candlewood Suites) confirmed that they had 2 queens available when Agoda fixes their error.
- After waiting 24 hours (from Friday’s call), I called Priceline. Priceline rep tried to assist me by having Agoda fix the reservation. Priceline was offering me 2 options: the option to cancel my reservation, or 20% refund off the entire price of my booking.
- While on hold, Priceline rep accidentally mixed up the phones and instead of continuing to talk with Priceline, I ended up with Agoda support, and they refused to talk with me and hung up while I was explaining the problem.
- I called Priceline back and got a different person. She said that the earlier Priceline rep escalated the ticket and gave it high priority - 24 hours would be the fastest it could be handled.
Sunday, 3/16 - Priceline
- Called Priceline and explained the situation, and asked if I could just have my whole reservation cancelled. The person said that Agoda admitted their error and needed to escalate the issue for resolution. I asked for an email confirmation for this, and she sent an email (there was no description of the problem in the email, just an issue number). And said to check back the next day.
Monday, 3/17 - Priceline
- Called Priceline and asked to cancel my reservation. She said that the ticket was escalated for further review and there was nothing Priceline (I think she meant the regular customer support representatives) could do about it until that escalation was finished. And she recommended I wait for further options from them.
Thursday, 3/27 - Priceline
- Received an email from Priceline that the information from the hotel is restricted, and they cannot assist me.
As a customer, I find the Priceline response unacceptable.
- Priceline works with a 3rd party Agoda
- Representatives from both Priceline and Agoda confirmed I booked a 2 bedroom room. Agoda acknowledged they accidentally sent a 1 bedroom reservation. Whether or not Agoda does anything is not my (Priceline Customer) concern. Priceline is responsible for the products they advertise and promise to their customer and they did not provide the service.
Recommendation to Priceline or customers: I was told that Agoda is an internal company for Priceline. I would recommend they fix this, or that people not purchase "up-sells" on hotel rooms with Priceline because their 3rd party service is flakey and Priceline does not uphold their agreement on the products they sell.

The Route Car Rent tried to carry out a scam that I disagreed with. I made the reservation through your website, however, when I went to the company counter, my American driver's license was not accepted, and they tried to charge me an additional insurance fee equivalent to four times the daily price of the car rental. In other words, I’m saying that I went there, I did not cancel the car.
This practice is called “a scam; a prank, therefore an illegal act”.
