My mother received a phone call from a person claiming to be a life insurance broker. The lady on the other end started asking her health questions to which my mom was providing answers to. I got a feeling that she was being scammed so I took over the conversation. I requested that she email me a picture of her broker information as well as her picture ID. She provided me with what looked like a broker's licenses and said for personal reasons she declined to share her ID with me. I went to the government website to check her credentials but they didn't show up as valid. When I informed of this she assured me that they were showing up on all the other states websites and she was reaching out to her licensure board to figure out what was going on. I asked her to give them my info and contact me directly at which point she asked if I had Power of Attorney over my mom. I said that I did not but I wasn't signing paperwork for her therefore I didn't need to be her POA to simply speak to someone on her behalf as long as she gave permission for said party to speak to me. At this point, the lady got very frustrated with me and told me to have a good day and hung up the phone.
