On 1/24/19, I received two pieces of mail from Pioneer. One congratulating me for contactig them to apply for Student Loan Rehabilitation, and listed things needed to complete enrollment. I have never contacted this company. This signaled a red flag, because I am already in a loan rehabilitation program through a company the loan originator had already gave me to contact. I have been making monthly payments on a regular basis. Then attached to the letter is a payment schedule I had promised to pay, wrong again. I already have a promise to pay with the company, l’m making payments to, and I am current on my payments. The second letter is stating that I have failed to make payments as promised and it will result in cancellation. The next day, 1/25/19, I received another notice stating “Congratulations on Choosing Loan Rebilitation! You have taken the first step in getting on track in the repayment of your loans. Once you have successfully completed the Federal Loan Rehabilitation Program, you will work with a new lender or services.” Scam. I have my receipts for every payment I have made to the company I am working with. If you are not careful, you will definitely be taken advantage of. There was another scammer trying to use the same name of the company The Loan Originator uses; using the same information Pioneer has sent me. I called the company to ask about the letters, because I knew I had been making payments on time. The Supervisor said, they have not sent anything out, and that I was current on my payments. She ask for the address on the notices. The address did not match up from original address of their company. I believe I have been definitely targeted to be scammed.

I have been receiving calls from 844-622-1807 for awhile and I had been ignoring them. But this morning I ended answering because I had been expecting a phone call from a business that was coming to my home to do some work. I should have hung up when I heard a click on the line before some guy answered. I was asked to verify if I was so and so, but he wasn’t saying who he was. After telling him that I wasn’t going to answer until he identified himself, he told me he was from Pioneer Credit Recovery calling about my defaulted student loan. I figured it must be legit because I do have a defaulted loan with that company. I gave him my dob and verified my last four and then offered to transfer me to their recovery experts to help me pay on the loan. I ended up hanging up.

Now I’m afraid that I was scammed and I feel foolish for answering the call in the first place. My only comfort, as terrible as this may sound, is that my credit is so terrible there’s not much they’re going to be able to do in regards to getting a cc or much else. At least I hope.
