The scammer called my elderly father. They said he won publisher's clearing house and claimed that his wife (now dead) had entered and won. The prize was a Mercedes and million+ dollars. They convinced my father to go to the bank the next day and get a bank check for $5,500. He did that and sent it in the mail. A few days later, I visited him and there were many harassing and bogus phone calls coming in that were suspicious. When I found out what happened, I urged my father to cancel the check from the bank and get the mail sent back to him. The mail hasn’t arrived yet. They are still calling his house looking for money to pay the taxes and fees on the Mercedes.
