We were charged $68 each ($136 total) to apply for a rural 2 bedroom apartment rental in Independence, Oregon. After submitting a full 5-year rental ledger, we were denied because the landlord claimed they “couldn’t reach” our current landlord. Our landlord confirmed they were never contacted.

We disputed the charges with Chase Bank, and both fees were refunded in full. No documentation of a screening was provided. This experience felt predatory and dishonest—be cautious if you're considering applying here.
