Type of a scam Rental

I applied for a listing to an apartment rental in Los Angeles at 966 Manzanita st.

I connected with the individual listing who seemed like a jovial, relatable person.

I sent in my application and provided pay stub and 3 year old utility bill for the application.

The listing was $1250/month with a $1000 security deposit.

My application was immediately accepted and I was asked to proceed with security deposit and first month rent.

The speed of this raised my concern, so I went through assessor records and white pages to get the phone number of the listed property owner.

I called the owner and he confirmed it was not listed for rent and it was definitely a scam attempt.
