Nexus Protection Imposter Vehicle Park Booting Scam Reports & Reviews (1)

- Dallas, TX, USA • Feb 24, 2025

My boyfriend parked his 18 wheeler truck in a vacant parking lot in the middle of an Applebee's and a Whataburger in Dallas for 2 days friday to sunday. We came back to take the truck on sunday afternoon and noticed there was a padlock on the tires and a letter on the windshield stating that the vehicle has been immobilized by Nexus Protection due to illegal parking and the fine for the removal of the boot is $1,278.50. The payment had to be paid over the phone by Cash app or Zelle and then the driver would come and take the boot off the tires. The parking lot he was parked in which we verified is owned by Applebees so we talked to the manager and he said he did not contact anyone to come tow the truck or put a padlock on the tires of the truck. Nexus Protection stated on the phone they are "privately owned" but yet we went to their building and office space and it was empty. No website on the internet and even the phone number on the paper once entered through Zelle and Cash App and it was a nonexisting number. We asked the owner of the Nexus Protection company "okay could you bring your paperwork to show you are a legitimate company and we will pay for the removal" The owner whose name is Spencer decided to argue and say "my driver will not have that paperwork on hand, he will only have the release form and you will still have to pay before he gets there." We decided to call the police and the police informed us it was a scam and to not pay them anything and to remove the padlock ourselves. Which we did.
