Stated he worked for Netgear. Charge $549.00 for lifetime software. Which none was installed.

TOTAL SCAM

They came up with an "auto-renewal" bill for something apparently I signed last year. Customer support wanted me to log in to a remote access tool in order to remove my account and process the refund. HUGE red flag. The "customer service" rep literally hung up on me 3 times while trying to figure out how/why to do this - second red flag - and finally I desisted. I have reported this to the credit card issuing banks and filed a formal complaint to the authorities.
DO NOT do anything with these guys.

Type of a scam Tech Support

I searched for Netgear support online to help improve the quality of my internet. Upon contacting, there was an initial agreement for $139 for a one year software protection and cleanup plan. Everything was fine after that until 2 months later when they called and said the software had reported issues and they needed to remote access the computer to Uninstaller and reinstall a new software (this is when I knew something was fishy) after they were in, they came back after 15 min and said no software was available and they needed to refund my $139. The guy then opened two browsers and said that I needed to type my bank account information in for the transfer and I told him I wasn't going to do that, so he got angry and said if I wouldn't accept the refund they would charge me $3,000. I then asked for his full company information and said "well you can't have access to your computer now" then remotely locked my computer and hung up.
