Mr. Armstrong calls myself, my husband and mother in law on numerous occasions for collection of an alleged debt that my husband supposedly owes. He also calls me at work. I don't know how he got any of our telephone numbers. The caller ID shows the call is coming from Yonkers, New York. He has also called from other numbers in the past. He refuses to tell me what company he is with. I had my attorney call him after he left me a voicemail at work. Mr. Armstrong alleges that my husband took out a loan in 2009 from Advance America (which is not true). He says my husband authorized automatic withdrawals from his checking account with Credit Union One. My husband never had an account with Credit Union One. Mr. Armstrong says that my husband stopped the automatic deductions after "taking the money" from Advance America. When my attorney asked why he was calling me, Mr. Armstrong replied that I was the spouse and I was obligated on the loan and that I co-signed for my husband. I did not even know my husband in 2009. When my attorney asked Mr. Armstrong to fax the papers to verify the debt owed and showing my alleged signature, Mr. Armstrong asked why he would need that information. My attorney replied by saying he wanted to see my alleged signature. Mr. Armstrong then replied that he would contact "the powers that be" and see if he was allowed to release this information. After that Mr. Armstrong hung up. I have not heard anything since. I since have blocked that number from calling my husband and myself. Unfortunately, I cannot block him from calling my work or my mother in law. Mr. Armstrong has violated so many laws and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. He never even identified himself as a debt collector, etc.
