Type of a scam Employment
I applied on a Friday, and received an "Official Job Offer" on Monday(the following business day). The paperwork looked legitimate. They even added "Mylene Pedone Co-Founder & CEO" at the bottom of one of the pages of the "Employment Contract". I submitted the acceptance letter and sent a copy of my driver's license and business license to verify where the work equipment should be sent. They also have my signature from the job acceptance letter.
After that, I got an email from Ricardo (no last name), stating that all communications would be by text. I acknowledged/replied to the message, which asked for my Bank Name and Account holder name (but no account numbers). Ricardo sent me a text that said to check my email because my check was ready for deposit. Ricardo's instructions were to print off the (probably fake) check for $4,450, and deposit the check into my bank via the mobile app.
I did not try to deposit the fake check, but decided to go a different route, and contacted the attorney general for my state, who told me to contact the FTC and the FBI, which I did. After a day had passed and I had not replied to Ricardo or cashed the "check", the fraudsters/Ricardo threatened me with legal action. I've had no response from the fraudsters since I told them I reported them to the FTC. I also alerted ZipRecruiter, who replied to me quickly and took down the job post. However, if you do a Google search for "Move The Chain Customer Service Representative" the same job ad is posted in various sites.
I have spent several hours doing damage control, including freezing and locking my files at all three primary credit bureaus, filing fraud reports, contacting my credit union, and making this as public as possible so that some innocent person just looking for a job doesn't get scandalized out of thousands of dollars.
The grammar was very good, and the documents look official. My guess is that scammers are using AI now.
