I purchased the Parisian Stroll Bag from Modavo US through their official website. Upon receiving the product, I found that it was severely defective and did not match the advertised specifications. The bag was marketed as capable of accommodating a laptop, but it does not fit one. Additionally, the materials and overall quality were significantly inferior to what was advertised on their website and social media.
I immediately contacted Modavo US to request a full refund. In response, they informed me that I would need to return the item to their factory in China at my own expense, despite the fact that shipping costs would exceed the price I originally paid for the product. This information was not disclosed at the time of purchase, making the return process unreasonable and unfair.
After multiple attempts to request a U.S.-based return location, Modavo US refused to provide one. Instead, they initially offered a 20% refund if I kept the defective item and later increased the offer to 30%—still requiring me to keep a product that did not match its description.
Their return policy on their website does not mention that returns must be sent to China at the customer's expense, which is misleading. This practice seems deceptive and imposes an unfair financial burden on consumers who receive misrepresented or defective products.
Desired Resolution:
I am requesting a full refund without the requirement to return the item to China, as this was not disclosed at the time of purchase and the product is not as advertised.
