I phoned McCormick today 800-632-5847 (their number) cuz i had a product question. The robo-answer said McCormick was offering a "free medical device, one of those you hang around your neck, that would normally cost a lot of money ... press 1 if you are over age 50." So far sounds legit, I pressed 1. Someone named "Jessica" answered the phone, I answered, "good morning Jessica my name is (_____) and I have a question about your SnapTight lids." Instead of taking my question, Jessica launches immediately into this "amazing offer for a free medical devicel...." She goes on like this for at least 2 minutes without taking a breath! I'm amazed Jessica doesn't pass out cuz I mean this woman who speaks incredibly good English and has a pleasant voice is talking and talking. I keep trying to interrupt, "Jessica, I'm not interested, I'm calling to ask about...." Jessica is talking over me. I think perhaps Jessica can't hear me, maybe something is wrong with her phone, so I repeat myself, this time speaking louder and slower. Jessica still doesn't acknowledge me, it's like she cannot hear me or she's rude or I don't know what. Finally I say, "Jessica, are you a real person or are you AI?" Jessica never answers me, she's still yapping. It dawns on me that Jessica is not real, she's AI, and somehow these talented scammers hijacked McCormick's phone number so I hung up. I wanted to notify McCormick about this immediately, to tell them they NEED TO PUT SOMETHING ON THEIR WEBSITE WARNING CUSTOMERS, but it's impossible to talk with a live person at McCormick so I figure screw McCormick, I'm never buying their product ever again.
