I am a contractor. A close friend of mine was scammed by a contractor supposedly found on “Angi’s List” His name is Brian Verone, He has several companies with the name MMC, LLC which stands for magic man construction. He basically appears to be a guy that worked for the railroad and then did tile and landscaping. Got a business license and advertises himself as a “handy man.” She found him on Angi’s list and he convinced her to give him thousands of dollars for work he never finished and totally screwed up. She is not knowledgeable about construction whatsoever. She got legitimate bids and then he undercut them. What is worse he did electrical work and plumbing and is not licensed to have this scope of work. I came to help her because things got so f’d up. She purchased an old Victorian Duplex in Sumner which needed alot of work and then never finished anything and the electrical is messed up. My friend is single mom with two kids barely making ends meet, she got off welfare and works two jobs. We confronted him and talked to him in a way to get him talking. I think he is a TOTAL scammer. He had another gentleman when he showed up who looked like an existing or past meth user. We were very courteous. At first it was very confusing to understand how things shook out because he came when we demanded he come and get his tools and return the keys to the property which he never did. He then said he was entitled to more money even though he had signed a contract for a ridiculous bid and been paid, plus more because my friend felt trapped.
