I was approached via email by "Susan Rodriguez" regarding an interview for a Virtual Health Coach for Komodo Health. I was told the position was virtual and would be based off East Coast hours of 9am to 4pm. The interview was to take place via Microsoft Teams via chat as the function of the job was to be using chat and I was told I'd be scored based on my responses. The following day I received a call from someone who claimed to be "Richard Greenburg" who asked a couple of follow up questions and then offered me the job. I was sent a job reference number and told to check back in with Susan Rodriguez regarding next steps on Microsoft Teams. I let her know he offered me the job and she instructed me to send an email to an address "[email protected]" and to let them know what my home address was and to let her know when this was done. I received an email back with a W4, I9, and direct deposit template as well as an offer letter with an explanation of benefits. I sent back the completed and signed forms and asked for next steps. I was then told by Susan that I would be contacted at 9am eastern on Monday to meet with my team leader and be told more of the job details. When I was contacted this morning, I was told that the job would include writing care plans for health coaching for clients. I asked who the clients were and was told they were individuals who signed up with Komodo Health online as a service. I was then asked to purchase an iPhone 16 pro max and an iPad through Verizon to be my work line and device and that they would also be sending me a laptop and a desk and an Ikea office couch (which sounded very strange). I contacted Verizon to find out how much it would cost to purchase these devices and was told that someone had just called the representative I got on the line about something similar a few weeks ago. In that case the individual had already purchased the devices and was at that point told to send them in to get hardware installed and never got them back. The two devices totaled to a value of around 3,000 based on the gb requirement they told me to get. I got suspicious, did not purchase the devices and reached back out to my team lead "Jason Heilman" from Komodo just asking what would be the next step after I purchased the device. He insisted that I needed to purchase the devices today and that I would be reimbursed. I stated I was not comfortable purchasing a device upfront and asked to be given the funds first. He then stated the company was having trouble with their direct deposit so he'd have to mail me a check instead. I at that point tried to call him on teams and my call was declined. I attempted to call Susan on teams and my call was declined. I lastly tried to call Richard Greenburg back and no answer. It has been 4 hours and I have not received a response. I have since taken steps to freeze my bank account that I had provided to them for direct deposit purposes as well as freeze my credit on all 3 bureaus. I wanted to file this complaint to ScamPulse.com as I'm not sure if the company itself is a scam or if there is a scammer targeting people in their name. It's possible Richard Greenburg and Jason Heilman are real people as they both have Linkedin Profiles that are more extensive than others, but Susan I believe is a bot. Her Linkedin profile only has Komodo Health listed beginning in Oct 2024. The Komodo Health Website appears legit, and lists some big name pharmaceutical companies. If it's not a legit business, those companies should know their names are being used. The other detail I noticed is that in the teams chat, the Komodo Health logo has a "tm" in the upper right corner and on the official company website there is no "tm."
