On the 19th of December two guys Abe and Eden, knocked on my door to ask me about a small guest bathroom renovation that I wanted done. About 10 minutes later two other guys from a different company knocked on my front door. Abe and Eden said I’m sorry but we already have a contract with them and Abe started acting nuts and said that those two guys said that they were going to stab him. I told them all to please leave my house and fight outside if they wanted to. I’m a disabled Veteran with 16 years of service and I was nervous that there was a real threat in my life. Abe kept saying over and over did you hear that, he said he wanted to stab me. The guys left their card but Abe took it and said that those guys take advantage of old people and their work is terrible and that they would have to have their own company clean up their mess. Abe also bragged that his Grandfather owned the company and that he would be next in line to take it over. Eden agreed with everything that Abe was saying. They assured me that they were a Costco preferred company and to get that designation it was very very difficult. Costco has to ride along with the crew and and spend hours on the job site in order to receive such a prestigious status. I told Abe and Eden that I was having my entire family over for Christmas dinner and that on the 27th I would be hosting a special party for my friends and family who I hand not seen since high school graduation in 1998. Abe assured me that they had connections with the City of Beaverton and that there would not be a single problem getting it all done in time for Christmas. He then went to his Tesla and grabbed a green can of spay paint and began spray painting my entire bathroom. After that he said that he was was going contact his Grandfather and to ask for the best deal that he could offer. Abe walked outside and most likely called someone else because later I found out that he was lying to me regarding his grandfather. He said that his grandfather had a deep respect for our Veterans, was will to take the time to give me the absolute best offer for the remodel. I’m a disabled veteran who lost the ability to write with my right hand due to a severe brain injury that I suffered during my service. After Covid, Ave and Eden said that prices are labor had shot through the roof and that $58,770 was the best price they could do the job for. After seeing that my entire kids bathroom had been spray painted, I couldn’t stop thinking they were ready to get the project started and even contacted a demolition team to begin tearing down the entire bathroom. At this point I just wanted them to leave because I had already started to have my doubts. A few days later Abe and Eden showed up to my house and said that they were sorry that nothing had been accomplished except for the demolition. They were waiting on the city of Beaverton for inspection to that was the hold up. In the meantime, Abe explained to me that his crew was being paid by the day and that they needed to begin work on other parts of my house since there were a few other things that I wanted to get done. Abe said that I make $300,000 a year ago that he would like me to max out loan that I was approved for. I have no idea where he thought that I made $300,000 dollars a year, in fact I make a 3rd of that. With my O4 retired Major pay and Social Security Disability pay. I’m on a fixed income. About 7 years ago I was able to use my Veteran Housing Benefit $90,000 to remodel my home to make it wheelchair accessible. I had suffered a severe brain virus after chemotherapy causing me to lose feeling on my entire right side of my body. It also caused my mental acuity to become very weak causing me to not be able to walk, talk, or even tell anyone my own address. Abe assured me that he would be able to get my entire house finished by maxing out my loan of $$100,000 which I knew I couldn’t afford. Eden, said that he had to take a call on another job, but he guaranteed me that Abe had the big connection as his grandfather owned the company. Abe called his grandfather again and said he had fantastic news. His grandfather was going to give me the best price ever and it would be very close to maxing out my loan but not all the way. At this point I looked Abe square in the eyes and said, can I speak to your grandfather and thank him for everything that he’s done for me. Abe said no and why I would dare question him. At this stage I knew that it was all a lie and scam. I needed them to at least give me a usable bathroom for my children and any guest that I had over. I was very embarrassed and couldn’t believe at even allowed these sheep in wool skin to enter my home. They they talked about how they were practicing Jewish men and how they took their religion very seriously. Fast forward, to this past Friday the 24th of January. My son had a serious, illness and had to stay home for a few days because of a intense cough and fever. I took him to get some soup to get fluids in him. We left the place where we grabbed soup and that night I realized that I had lost my wallet. My debit card drivers license, and my military identification which identifies me as 100% disabled veteran. As I searched my entire home I noticed that taxes had started to show up in my mail. Looking through all of my documents I found the Joey Builders contract. And started to look at all the different signatures and numbers. Abe had to write everything down because of my disability. I also received a phone call from a friend who is has helped me out in the past and talking with him he said that he had just helped out a nice old lady who needed her bathroom redone and he charged her $7,500 to do the entire bathroom. He even stated that he redid all of her plumbing that was in bad condition. I about cried knowing that he had that for her and how did I not contact him about the job. I told him that this contract says $58,770 and he felt like I had been scammed especially since it wasn’t even a master bathroom with a lot of tile work. That’s when I told Abe that I can’t believe that he would do this to me.
