I was looking for a ein tax number from the IRS and mistaking went a website impersonating the IRS, the number sent me was no good with my bank, I was charged 297 dollars for nothing. I than went to irs.gov and recieved a real ein number at no fee, the bank accepted that number. How websites can do IRS government business and openly scam people ?

This site poses as the IRS EIN portal to create your EIN. It will charge you 250 dollars to literally take the information you type into their site to replicate it on the correct EIN site. There is no service they provide and will charge an eyewatering 250 dollars. I feel ashamed to have fallen for this and not checked my site. I am surprised Google allowed this through. I have contacted the IRS regarding this. Hope you are not reading this because you were a victim as well.

Needed to file EIN for an LLC and after performing a search thought I'd clicked on IRS.gov. Filed one for LLC and was prompted to pay $250, which I did since needed to do so. Realized now that I don't remember paying in the past. Did a search again and saw that it's an illegitimate company running an ad on Google. Didn't receive anything via e-mail or otherwise, contrary to what was mentioned in the attached screenshot.
