My relative applied to a job to inspectabox on an online job posting website. After I was informed about this business, I decided to look at their website to see what the company was all about. Doing a simple Google search was enough to give me suspicions that this was not a legitimate company. Red flag #1, when doing a google search, there is literally no information about this business at all. In fact, doing a simple Google search yields 77 total results, 8 pages, none of which actually redirect to the companies website. If a company cannot be found on any Google pages, then that's likely an indication that the website lacks authority/credibility, especially as a business. The only way to find the site is to type the site into the address bar of the browser which is: https://inspectabox.com/. Once I got onto the site, the overall design and feel felt extremely low quality, not fit for an established business. On their site, they had a section that talked about their team, which includes roles such as President or CTO for example. They used fake names such as Vic Harvey, who is actually Richard Moore, and Mithun Singh, who is really Dilip Shangvi, both people are publicly known individuals that can be found on Google easily. This business is trying to be smart by hiding their "about team" section, because now you can't find it directly on their website when clicking around on their navigation bar. That link has all the fake individuals names mentioned with pictures of real public figures, but I will attach one of the screenshots in case it gets taken down. Another odd thing I found is that their address is a shared office building called "The Yard" in New York. Doesn't seem legitimate that a business would have a shared office space. I just want to share this message that this entity cannot be trusted.

InspectABox advertises Remote Job Openings on apps like LinkedIn for Inspection Manager or Assistant Supervisor.

A recruiter who went by the name of "Michael Vance" sent me an email after I sent in a resume for the posting and asked to schedule a phone interview. He spent 1hr educating me about how the business started and the nature of the job. To make it short, you would accept packages from "sellers" and collect data on the packages (like if they were damaged or if the items in the box were accurate according to the order) before sending the package back in the mail to reach it's destination.

I was skeptical at first but Michael sent over some employment contracts that looked real and even called a couple of my references, who all told me they had a good experience talking to Michael. I sent the employment paperwork back to Michael, which included direct deposit info.

My friend was checking out the InspectABox website and noticed immediately that the image used for the President of Inspectabox named Vic Harvey is actually a man named Richard Moore who is a British Diplomat and the image used for the CTO named Mithun Singh is actually Dilip Shangvi, an Indian billionaire who founded Sun Pharmaceuticals. I confirmed this through a reverse image search.

I immediately emptied out my bank account that was provided on the direct deposit paperwork. I have not heard back from InspectABox after sending documents AND so far have seen 4 unauthorized Google Pay transactions from the account I emptied, luckily they all declined.

The company info that was provided on the Employment Contract I received stated this:

SRC Quality Inspect LLC dba InspectABox.com

Registered in NYS under #4121365 in 2011, a corporation with its head office located at: 157 13th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11215

When you run a Google search for inspectABox or SRC Quality Inspect LLC not a single company website comes up or any valid website with their information. The only way to get to their website is to type InspectABox.com directly into the URL bar.
