They reached out through text message to setup a microsoft teams call with the HR of the company. Went through the text interview, got an offer letter, soon to receive fake checks. Sent a W4 pdf to get my information.

Asked for my social and drivers license. They were offering me a job.

- San Antonio, TX, USA

I applied for the "company" through Indeed or LinkedIn ( I don't remember which one I've been applying for a good amount of jobs recently ) and within 2 days I received a text message from the number (317)451-6138 with an individual that claimed to be Sophia Destin saying that they would like to go forward with an interview. After a brief conversation about the position they were offering ( In the text she said "This is an online work from home position where all duties are done remotely and the pay is $35/hr and you will be paid $28/hr during training and this is for the position of Administrative Assistant/ Data Entry" which was also the same information listed in the job posting). She then told me to schedule a meeting with Mrs.Zoe Fox on microsoft teams with the email [email protected] and to give her the code V101 to know that I had previously spoke to Sophia/ been sent by Sophia. I began Instant messaging Mrs.Fox on microsoft teams and that's where the interview took place, she asked me about 20 questions and then after a few hours she said she needed to speak to her team before they went through with a decision. Then I was told I got the job and she sent me a follow up email with an employment offer letter form and a W4 form explaining that I needed to have both signed and emailed back to her by tomorrow if I was accepting the offer, and I did. She then went on to explain that the company would email me a check to deposit into my bank account ( a mobile deposit) and then I would go on to use that money to download the required accountant software and follow the link to purchase the required equipment for my position (laptop, printer, etc.) It was at this point where my dad was informed of my offer and told me it was a scam. When i researched the company barely any information showed up about them or any reviews regrading former employees. Since I filled out the W4 form they do know my personal information, such as my address, and SSN, and they know I bank with ***** ***** because of the conversation regarding the check and equipment, but they don't have my bank information ( to my knowledge).
