Juan Diaz is a scam artist. I met Juan through a coworker who found him on the website Thumbtack. He called saying he had a granite counter top guy that he works with that would be able to give me a reasonable price on material and labor ($1600 to materials and labor). He kept calling and texting me for a deposit ($800) saying he needed it before he could begin work. DO NOT give him any deposit, I learned that an honest and reliable contractor should have funds to begin work or else they will use your deposit to fund other projects because they're out of money. He told me he would begin work at the end of April 2018, I texted him every week asking if he is coming to do the work and he would respond "Yes". This was a lie, he never came and stole the deposit. I contacted him asking for a refund to which he agreed to but then he stopped responding. I went to the police station and filed an incident report, the officer called him and told him to return the money and he still did not. I then proceeded to sue him in small claims court. During all this I looked him up on the Michigan license contractor site to see his license number (something I should have done earlier but I trusted the coworker) and he is nowhere to be found. He is not licensed. Do not trust him, he is a thief and unreliable.
