Home Improvement - A.E.D.P. Group Reports & Reviews (8)

I had a very disappointing experience with AEDP Group. In my opinion, they are untrustworthy and unreliable. They claim to provide engineering services, but based on my understanding, they do not hold the proper licenses required for that work.

They advertise a 40%-40%-20% payment structure for permit services; I paid 80%. After payment, progress stalled completely. Communication stopped, and I was met with ignored calls, emails, and messages. When I did hear back, there were no clear updates on the project’s status.

From what I observed, the company seems to be operated mainly by one individual (Paul or Randy), with site visits handled by John and admin work by Sharmaine. Most of their work appears to be outsourced, and I saw little regard for professional standards, transparency, or accountability.

AEDP Group also maintains a strong presence on social media, but it appears that negative comments and reviews are deleted, which prevents customers from seeing honest feedback.

If you have had a similar experience, I strongly recommend reporting it to Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) and Consumer Protection Ontario.

Based on my experience, I do not recommend engaging with AEDP Group. Protect your money, time, and peace of mind — look elsewhere for reliable, properly licensed professionals.

I had a very disappointing and frustrating experience with AEDP Group. They claim to provide engineering and permit services, but after contacting the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO), I discovered that they do not hold the proper licenses to offer engineering services and are not authorized to use the word “Engineering” in their business name or promotional materials.

The company makes many promises but consistently fails to deliver. They advertise a 40%-40%-20% installment payment plan, yet in practice, they demand 80% upfront before even starting the permit application. After paying this amount (the first two installments), the work stalled completely. They later demanded additional unexpected fees to continue the project. When I refused and questioned these charges, they stopped all communication — phone calls, emails, and messages went unanswered, leaving me without updates or progress.

From what I experienced, the operation seems to be run by a small group of individuals: Paul and Randy manage coordination, Sharmaine handles administrative tasks, and John conducts site surveys. Most “engineering” work appears to be outsourced, with no regard for licensing, professional standards, or client trust. There is a complete lack of accountability, transparency, and honesty. When I tried contacting Paul, he redirected me to Randy, but Randy never responded despite multiple attempts through his secretary.

AEDP Group remains active on social media (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and Google), where they delete negative reviews to conceal poor performance.

I have reported this company to the PEO and relevant consumer protection authorities, and I understand they are now under investigation. Despite this, they continue to operate and mislead new clients. I personally lost over $1,200, months of valuable time and delay to my project — from May 2025 until now — with no results. When I contacted the City’s Development Department, they confirmed that no updates or submissions had been received from AEDP Group since July 2025.

This company should be held accountable for misleading consumers, operating without proper licenses, and violating professional and ethical standards.

I was planning a renovation and needed proper drawings and permits to move forward. Like anyone else, I started by getting quotes from different companies. Some were too expensive, others felt rushed, and a few just didn’t seem reliable. I didn’t want to take chances.

Then I came across AEDP.

What stood out first was that they offered to do a site visit upfront — no pressure, no payment. That gave me a good feeling. They took their time, asked the right questions, and explained things clearly. It didn’t feel like a sales pitch — more like a team that knew what they were doing.

I decided to sign up with them.

They got the drawings done quickly, and to be honest, the first draft was pretty solid. But I had a few changes I wanted, and they handled them without any pushback. They made the revisions just how I asked — no delays, no excuses.

The best part? Their pricing was fair and transparent. No hidden fees, no surprises. Every time I had a question, they were responsive and clear. It really made a difference.

In the end, I got exactly what I needed: permit-ready drawings, peace of mind, and the feeling that I chose the right team. If you're looking for a company that listens, delivers, and doesn’t make things complicated — I’d recommend AEDP any day.

If you are looking for any type of Home Improvement, you are best to steer clear of these guys.
Will try to keep this as short as possible and hopefully in point form.

August 2024
after initial discussion, and a few outrageous quotes, they seemed reasonable ….at first, so hired them to do a basement buildout on a new house. Basement was clean slate with one supporting wall.
Worked out a build plan, submitted drawings and let them do their thing.
4 rooms and a bathroom, fairly simple, needed to put up 5 walls, and 3 closets.
It took 2 guys almost 8 days to do this, plus walls did NOT go all the way up to ceiling joists.
(Also to be fair, they were told to not attach 1 wall (bathroom), as the pan for shower was delayed in delivery), so we could adjust it properly once the pan arrived.
Enclosing the HVAC (bulkhead), was interesting, there was not 1 spot where the width was same length, nor 1 spot where it was the same height (read “fix day”)
All walls that were put up were not square, at all….
They called for an inspection to move on to the next phase
Inspector came, and while standing in the built room beside the bathroom, shook one of the walls, the opposite wall of bathroom (12 feet away) shook also…
Needless to say….FAIL
After letting them know why, they sent someone else to determine a fix, who then “blocked” (6 inch pieces of 2x4) the tops of the walls, instead of actually repairing it so that it wouldn’t move, while seeming good on the surface…keep reading

The 2 guys who put up original walls, told us and the guy who fixed the walls, that all those mis-measurement's as well as wall movement, and height issues would be addressed on “Fix Day”, apparently this is 1 day in the process, that they find out what is wrong, and they designate a day to “fix” the issues. LOL
Do it right the first time and there’s no need for a “fix day”
One room was supposed to be soundproofed as its used as a sound studio
Guess what, its not, even though AEDP. Syas this is their specialty, just ask the person sleeping upstairs, orthe next door neighbour

All of this was conveyed to AEDP
Their “solution” to this was to send down another contractor, that told me he was hired off kijiji.

Middle of August 2024
Jonathan who was apparently hired-off Kijiji, was awesome to work with, and once he saw the current build and issues, went to work.
He fixed the not high enough walls, which he had to do because if he didn’t, he would not have been able to attach drywall at least 6 inches from top….
Jonathan worked and worked, was very pleasant and cordial, and answered any questions, he even fixed the bathroom wall that the 2 guys from AEDP didn’t get-to on “fix day”
Jonathan worked away, drywalling and taping, fixing issues as he went
One day, Jonathan didn’t show up, said he tweaked his back, (they did not send anyone else down to assist Jonathan
Jonathan was out a week
Johnathan showed up a couple more times, but then didn’t, when he was pressed as to why he wasn’t coming anymore, he told us that, he was waiting to get paid from AEDP, and wouldn’t be showing up until he was….Understandable
We had enquired to AEDP as to what was going on, and they told us that they weren’t coming anymore because of an apparent poor review that was Left about them, apparently written by us.

TO BE CLEAR HERE: we did not, and until this review have not written any review, the bad review they received had other names on the review, and was for a project 400 kms away
All communication between AEDP and us was not replied to.
We have asked for an accounting of the disbursements, and anything outstanding, as well as money being owed back to us.
Crickets, nada, no response whatsoever

Need to make this known also.
We are in Chatham Ontario, and at this point do not know the location of AEDP’s office that they are using.
The plumber they hired was from Waterloo Ontario - 217 kms away
The electrician they hired was from Ayr Ontario - 189 kms
Jonathan was from Port Burwell Ontario - 145 kms

Plumber and electrician and Jonathan, were all great, came in did the job they were supposed to do, and did not require a “Fix Day”
Communication between those 3 was outstanding…AEDP not so much

Do yourself a favour, find someone else, save yourself some time and aggravation
We had to hire out someone else to finish the job, as an added expense
To date we have received no reconciliation of accounts, nor have we had any money returned to us for products paid for but not received
Feel free to send me a message, and will supply you with my phone number/email to discuss further

The above report is 100% false
We got thede clients
1. Wishne Murali and her husband
Their building permit
2. The city had several comments and we went back and forth with them to resolve the issues
3. The client made several changes with the options we provided we had no issues of making all those changes
4. We all work for my homes and we have a virtual office as listed on our website
5. In fact visited the customer's house yesterday associate as far as John went to see them as a contractor failed the framing inspection to help them pass it
6. There's a professional engineer stamp on their drawings and I'm not sure what these guys are talking about
7. We have demanded them to take this down because it's false and our next step is we are going to sue them for slander

My wife and I found A.E.D.P Group on Facebook to take measurements and submit a building permit for our basement. This is the service they offered. They claimed to have gotten thousands of permit applications approved. We were in contact with Randy and Summit Kumar from A.E.D.P whom we paid for this service. Randy provided us with a drawing for our basement and submitted the drawing to our municipality for approval. Once that was done we heard nothing from Randy. We called the municipality ourselves to get an update and they advised there are many issues with the drawing submitted by A.E.D.P. We tried reaching out to Randy but he has not been contacting us back and constantly dodging any form of communication from us. When we looked up the address listed on their website we could not find their business listed in the building they said they were located in. They seem to be a scam business using a fake address and a sketchy webpage. They do not have the qualifications to be designers and are fraudulently taking business they don’t qualify for.
