Contacted Microsoft help with number on Google search and said Microsoft website. The man said he is with Microsoft tech support. He remotely accessed the desktop to "repair" word program and send a refund for the $120.00 then install the new version of Microsoft Word. I agreed, thinking I have had tech support remote access before. he then accessed my computer, uploaded something and tried to send $40 claiming the first deposit of 120 was rejected. Then he said he "accidentally" entered too many zeros, making the amount $4000.00 instead of $40. He screamed at me NOT to call the bank. He said doing so would freeze my accounts. He said he can't reverse it. I said to let me reverse it, and he closed the Chrome windows before I can access and said to follow instruction or possible jail for fraud and freeze my accounts. he had me print off a bank statement before closing the windows. Showing a $4000 deposit. I tried to record the call and he shut my recording off on my cell phone. I recorded the end half of the conversation. While on the phone, a call shows on my cell from my local bank, with the local bank phone number displayed. I merged the calls. The "Bank" call immediately started threats of fraud and claimed the ScamPulse.com fraud dept. has contacted my bank for trying to steal $4000 from Microsoft from my desktop. I explained that is not what happened and asked for his name which he said is "Leon Davis" and called from 615-672-2265. He used a reference #7869211 and "microsoftrefund6464". I explained that I do not think Microsoft would have the ScamPulse.com involved, and he again became irate yelling at me that he will freeze my account and if I record or add a 3rd party to the line (i wanted my husband on the line) that he will freeze the account 60 days and have the police here to arrest me for committing fraud on my desktop.. I said no, I do not agree and want a supervisor, then he hung up and the "Microsoft tech kevin" got on the phone yelling that I broke procedure, and he will now freeze all accounts. I began recording him on my laptop. He told me they can't reverse it, he is going to lose his job and my accounts will be frozen for 60 days now. He tried to make me go to "the dollar store" with him on the phone and purchase a prepaid visa to send him. I said this does not feel right. Microsoft is not going to have me get a prepaid visa. He also said to compensate you, keep the $120 and send back 3800.00. Then he said "take as much as you feel is enough compensation and send the rest on the card." I said this does not seem correct. Repeatedly asked them to disconnect my computer which they refused, so I shut everything down. (I have printouts of all of this that they had displaying on my screen. ) My husband came in, and I whispered to him to call the bank asap because now it feels like a scam. The guy on the phone and the man claiming to be with first horizon both had Indian (India) accents. I mentioned that I now think he had his friend call pretending to be the bank and advised him I have been recording, and I am going to the police station, to which he yelled more and eventually hung up. I tried to call the number back to see if a company answered, but it was just him answering, asking "why the [censored] are you calling me now?" I am changing all passwords and now have to have the geek squad check the computer for anything they may have put in there. Visiting the bank too. The website legit looks exactly like Microsoft. The # on Google says it is Microsoft Technical Support. I have not had a chance to go to the police yet, and hoping Microsoft can assist?
