HBNICK Inc Reports & Reviews (1)

I received an email indicating that Alex with HBNICK, Inc. had seen my resume on ZipRecruiter (I am registered on ZipRecruiter). The email said I had applied to an Administrative Assistant Position but a review of my applications through ZipRecruiter could not produce this particular position. I am currently looking to relocate to Canada and applying for positions where I can possibly get an LMIA to get a work permit. I inquired about the position, informed them I am not living in Canada and am looking for an LMIA position. I also informed them I do not have a valid work permit to work in Canada. I invited them to pass on my application if they could not get and LMIA.

I was called by Alex Boyko on September 11, 2018 at 10:12 am. He had a very thick accent and was difficult to understand but asked me a few questions about my education and customer service background. He said I would receive a call from a supervisor and an email with forms to sign and I would be permitted to work at home on a 2 week trial basis. After the two weeks, I would be offered full-time employment at their office which they said they plan to open in my city.

The form they sent is a one page contract. It outlines the position, salary, benefits and even claims to be subject to Canadian Law. Curiosity was peaked when I was asked to send a photo of myself holding my photo ID (with all details legible) for their "safety" department. I have a real ID act compliant license (that was very hard to get) so I did not worry about sending the photo. I again made it clear that I do not have a valid work permit to legally work in Canada and was looking for a company that can get an LMIA approved for a foreign worker to work in Canada. I signed the form and sent the required information because I wanted to see where this was going. I did internet research on this business and was only able to discover that the company has been in business 25 years, made their annual filings and the address and phone number on the form they sent me matched their corporate records.

Today 9/13/18, I received an email from Alex instructing me to set up a client account with ICQ.com (it's legitimate and safe), then add him as a contact. After doing this, I had a conversation with Alex. I proceeded to ask him to be more specific about my job duties and was told my main role is to "receive funds from our Company and process it via bitcoin crypto currency to our dedicated IT employees from EU". From each transaction, I am supposed to get 5%, they said they will cover all fees and funds are to be delivered to me via etransfer. He then proceeded to ask questions about my bank account for their "financial department". I informed him I do not use banks and rely on prepaid accounts. He was insistent that I open a regular checking account and enable interac so I can receive and withdraw funds. This had me worried so I asked him what I do with the cash after withdrawing and was told I would "process it via bitcoin atm". This conversation went by very quickly with our back and forth messages coming in rapid succession.

I then sent a message asking for clarification. I asked him if what I was expected to do was receive funds in my account, withdraw all but 5%, and send the 95% to them via bitcoin. Suddenly, Alex stopped talking to me. Several minutes and messages from me went by and I never received a response. I can only take his silence to mean that I uncovered their scam and now he wants nothing to do with me. I told him I would pass on the job. Further research on this company brought up a site that shows HBNICK , Inc to be a DEREGISTERED corporation. Please avoid this company and any email that says you applied for a position you did not apply for. I was fooled by the fact that they said they got my information from ZipRecruiter. Also, when calling the phone number on the agreement, in emails and my call ID log (all the same number) I only get a message saying the number I called is not available. Even during business hours. A legitimate company would have a proper voice mail message. I saved the emails and took screenshots of my ICQ conversation with Alex.
