Grupo Anaya or Anaya Group Reports & Reviews (2)

Like the commenter above me, I had sent my resume to many different companies and had it posted onto Indeed since I am looking for a full-time remote position in writing. Initial contact was 05/18/21. I received a text message from Kimberly Scalani, a temporary recruiter through Anaya Group Publishing Company, which is a real publishing company located in Madrid, Spain. She told me she found my resume on Indeed and wanted to schedule an interview with me. Everything seemed legit, so I wanted to schedule it. Then, I was asked to download Telegram, which is a messenger app I'd never heard of before. I assumed maybe it was a European equivalent to Zoom, so I did. Then I began my interview with Albert Edward, the Director of HR with Grupo Anaya. At first, I thought it was strange our interview was via text, but I thought that may have had to do with a potential language barrier. After a lengthy interview, where he asked me typical interview questions, he told me he would submit my answers to his team and they would look over everything and get back to me. The next day I was hired. They then sent me an email with forms for me to fill out. A W-4, an employment contract, a list of my emergency contacts, and a direct deposit form. All of which I've had to sign for jobs in the past, so this seemed typical. After I sent back my signed forms, he told I'd be receiving a MacBook Pro for work, where I'd have to download certain programs, such as Grammarly, Hemingway, etc. He, then, told me I'd have to download these apps through their vendors and he would send me the money for these apps. All communication was done through Telegram. At this point, I grew suspicious. He constantly told me to stand by for further emails or further directions. When I asked him if my laptop was sent or when it would arrive, he never gave me a straightforward answer. He would redirect either by asking me how I was doing or tell me to standby for the check. Because of this, I gave my bank a heads-up, froze my accounts, and am in the process of starting over. What a nightmare! Again, their names are Kimberly Scalani and Albert Edward. Kimberly's phone number is 616-541-9824 and Albert's Telegram handle is @Hr_Albert. Please be careful out there!

So I had been applying for editing jobs on Indeed, Glassdoor, Zip Recruiter, and this person Kimberly Sclafani reached out and set up an interview on Telegram. It was similar to a job I had applied for so I thought it was the same. Anyway, it was quite thorough an interview through Telegram. It offered special equipment to do the job. Ultimately the hook would have been to accept employment and give my social and bank information which I did not do.
