Received letter in the mail about a new bank account being opened and a debit card issued in my name. Called customer service, the account was opened without being verified. Account was "canceled" and only way to verify cancelation was by email. Not able to send confirmation letter in the mail.

A debit card, with chip, was sent. Thinking it was a federal refund gift card, the cardholder attempted to activate the card in which the last 4 of social was entered. Information was asked, at which point a recovery email, Cherylreed [email protected], was identified. I searched the business name, and called the number given. The business then tries to get a full social security number. The website even looks believable. I hope this scam gets shut down quickly!
