Looking for a job, I found an advertisement in internet to be a mystery shopper. They sent me by mail a letter with instructions and a $1,450 check to buy two Apple gifts cards ($500 e/o) including my payment ($450). They texted me to know when I will deposit the check and begin the job. I bought one gift card in Walgreeens. But I began to suspect foul play when they told me to send a picture of the gift card scratched. I immediately went to the bank and informed about the check. They told me that this scam has happened many times. That the check is false and the person has been robbed. I was lucky in a sense, but now I have an Apple gift card that did not need and $500 less. I learned my lesson. Do not be naive and investigate first.

I got a letter in the mail, and it had a text number on it. I sent them a text to see if this was real or a scam!
They didn't respond to me and I deposited the check into my account. Now, I am worried that they will take the money, all my money from my account.
What should I do? I plan on making good on the terms that they set, but what if they decide to close out my account?
Please respond to me and let me know what I should do!?

I received a cashier check fro $2,950 and was requested to purchase gift cards at four different stores (Walmart, Walgreens, Best Buy, CVS, etc. Once they are purchased I am to scratch them and then photos of the back and front of the cards. The 5 gift cards are to be purchased at $500. Each. Then I am to email the photos to [email protected]. On the Priority Mail pouch the return address is ChasePay Financials; Calle Zinnia 150; San German PR 00683-19319. I have also received several text messages to my cell phone asking if I received the package and when I am going to start the research. I have responded with text messages asking for more information about the company. None has been forthcoming except that their website is being reconstructed as they were the victim of web fraud. The company also uses the name CMC Survey team and the research as CSE Assignment. The check is issued by the First Republic Bank at 1200 Prospet Street, La Jolla, CA 92037. There is a name at the bottom of the instructions—Dr. Bernard Hardrock (PhD)Phone 239 276 4018 (text only)
