I applied for a job on LinkedIn, and a company called Crystal Wu contacted me for a text/Teams interview through Microsoft Teams. I went through the process and had a final phone interview with the hiring manager, Chris Zhang. He called me for the interview from (626) 295-4757. Apparently, they also have a location in Diamond Bar, CA.

They hired me, onboarded me, and had me fill out all my personal information, including a copy of my driver’s license, Social Security number, address, and bank account information for direct deposit. They then sent me a check for $8,450 to deposit, claiming it was to be used to purchase my home equipment. After the check cleared my account, I made a purchase via Venmo using another account in the amount of $3,347 (after fees were added).

Shortly after, my bank notified me that the check had been rescinded, and the funds were no longer available in my account. The company representatives are now not responding.

This company, or someone posing as this company, posted a Social Media Manager job on LinkedIn. I applied and was contacted about the role about a week or 2 later. I went through the interview process and secured the job. They sent me an online check to purchase the equipment for the remote position. I purchased via Venmo using another account and the check that was deposited into my account was rescinded by the bank. They are now not responding to me.
