A few markers to note:
- It shows that the patient has UHC AARP Medicare but does not show the UHC number just his Medicare Number.
- I have looked up the lab which IS located in St. Petersburg but has a different phone and fax number.
- The doctor that is on the order, Dr. Anjmun Sharma MD, does not work in a lab but rather has an NPI for Emergency Medicine Physician and
Family Physician. He has licenses in CA, CO, and UT.
- It was not signed by the patient but it gives a phone number for a "Patient Consent Audio File." I have dialed the number but it asks for an NPI and I did not want to risk it.
- I have also called and LVM inquiring if the patient did indeed request this to be ordered.
This is an excerpt from Alert that was attached to the fax number (727-502-6372) by BBB:
"BBB has received a pattern of complaints and scam trackers filed against Bio-Genetics Laboratory. These entail the business reaching out about genetic testing that neither the consumer nor the consumer's doctors have ordered, and requesting the consumer provide their Medicare number and approve the genetic testing. Consumers also expressed concern with the business obtaining their information, including full name, email address and phone number, which consumers did not provide the business previously.
In April 2024,BBB received a response from the business that they do not feel that the amount of complaints constitute a pattern. The business stated that the only similarity appears to be that the complainants are confused or do not recall their initial request to be contacted. The businesses' responses to these complaints have advised the only way they order a test is through the consumer's primary care doctor and they do not make unsolicited calls. Since this response, ScamPulse.com has still received complaints/scam trackers regarding this. "
